“Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Isaiah
40:30-31 KJV
In a
panic stricken world we find a lot of people growing weary in waiting on God.
There are those who have been in the faith for years that seem to be getting
antsy and wondering if God is truly coming back. While on the other hand we
have young people who struggle with the thought of wondering if God is really
real. Chaos, death and uncertainty seem to fuel this blazing fire of confusion.
Is God really going to make my situation better? Am I really going to come out
on top? Is he really a God of his promises? These are questions that plague the minds
and hearts of many today. Although it doesn’t seem like anything good will
happen, I’m here to encourage you that change is going to happen for you.
The
ever increasing spirit of fear and anxiety has caused believers and unbelievers
alike to doubt whether anything good is going to come out of this situation
that we are facing. Maybe you’ve lost a loved
one as a result of COVID-19 or maybe you’re suffering financially because of
the pandemic; whatever your reason for worrying I’m here to encourage you that
God will deliver. The Bible is our road map for this journey called life and in
it we find a number of stories that have happened previously to give us faith
for what can and will happen. I’m reminded of a story of the children of Israel
while in Egypt. A panic stricken, oppressed and mistreated nation much like we
see today. The Israelites cried out to God for the chance to be delivered from
their oppressor, they cried out to God because they were tired of being treated
unjustly. They cried out to God because they needed to be rescued from the
place that they were currently in. And although we are referring to a dated yet
very truthful story in the Bible, may I
suggest to you that we are also in need of that same rescuing hand of grace
today. We live in a world where everything is subject to change, nothing is
guaranteed and you just aren’t sure what the next day will bring. The children
of Israel may have been in Egypt physically, but may I suggest we are dealing
with this same Egyptian spirit in 2020. This Egyptian spirit of oppression,
depression, poverty and ill treatment has caused us to be just as the children
of Israel; in need of a savior.
The
good thing about our present condition is that we are able to go boldly before
the throne of grace and obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need
according to Hebrews 4:16. Who or what is a throne? I’m glad you asked, Jesus
Christ is our throne, we are able to go to him in prayer 24/7 and make our
request known. Your request for healing, your request for deliverance, whatever
your request may be you can take it to him. I know you’re familiar with the
other gods that some go to for help but I’m here to encourage you to go to the
one true and living God, Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord. It’s very easy to
get frustrated, aggravated and even become intimidated by all that’s going on
in the world. Many become weary very easily and God knew this would be, which
is why he gave us a solution. “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew
their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles.” No matter how dark
the situation looks, no matter how long the situation has been going on; we are
bound to have Victory in Jesus if we wait on him. He promised to renew our
strength for the journey. Granted, I know the pain felt is real and I know the
situation seems to be endless but what looks impossible to man is certainly
possible with God. Keep trusting in God because he won’t let you down, in fact
we let him down when we don’t believe in him.
Expect
the great.
I often like to refer to Mathew 6:33 as well. A very familiar passage of scripture that tells us to, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” This scripture once again points us in the direction that we should go while waiting for everything around us to turn around. If we seek God who can change everything around us instead of seeking to change everything on our own we will be victorious and we’ll find that we’ve used less energy in trying to fix it all ourselves. So during this troubled time, don’t grow WEARY, grow STRONGER. Take this time to put all of your hope and trust in God. You’ve tried everything else and it has failed. Try Jesus and see if he won’t help you in your time of need. “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles.” It’s time to get your wings and take flight!
